Will my existing WooCommerce subscriptions be migrated when I switch to Sublium Subscriptions?
Existing subscriptions will be migrated using the Sublium Subscriptions migration add-on. The migration must be tested on staging first, and our free concierge migration service helps with setup review, testing, validation, and go-live coordination.
After the migration is completed and Sublium Subscriptions is made live, future renewals for migrated subscriptions will be processed through Sublium.
Is the migration a direct move from WooCommerce Subscriptions to Sublium?
No. It is a copy-and-map process. Sublium Subscriptions reads the existing WooCommerce Subscription data and fills Sublium’s own tables in the correct format. The original WooCommerce Subscriptions data stays intact.
Will the original WooCommerce Subscription data remain safe?
Yes. The original data remains intact. Sublium Subscriptions does not remove or overwrite the source subscription records during migration. This makes verification easier and gives an added layer of safety.
Will existing Stripe payment tokens be reused, or will customers need to re-authorize?
Existing Stripe payment tokens will be reused for supported setups. Customers do not need to re-authorize or re-enter their payment details, which helps make the migration seamless.
Will each subscriber’s exact next billing date be preserved?
Yes. Since this is a database migration, Sublium Subscriptions reads the subscription details from WooCommerce Subscriptions and populates its own tables accordingly. This preserves important data, including the next billing date.
Does the one-click card updater work with card-based payment gateways like Stripe for migrated subscriptions?
Yes. The one-click card updater works with migrated subscriptions using card-based payment gateways such as Stripe.
We also support PayPal subscriptions, including subscriptions created within PayPal or through vaulting. However, at this time, the one-click card updater is only available for card-based payment methods, such as Stripe.
How do you prevent double-billing between WooCommerce Subscriptions and Sublium?
A migration key (or lock) is added to each WooCommerce Subscription once it has been migrated.
This marks the subscription as already migrated and helps prevent it from being processed again during migration.
The migration state and billing/charging logic are handled separately, with additional checks in place to ensure a controlled and safe handover between systems.
At what point does WooCommerce Subscriptions stop triggering renewals for a migrated subscription?
WooCommerce Subscriptions continues working until the migration is completed, checks are finished, and Sublium Subscriptions is manually taken out of sandbox mode.
After that point, Sublium Subscriptions handles future renewals for migrated subscriptions.
Which payment gateways are supported for migration, and are there any payment gateways that cannot be migrated?
At this time, we support subscription migrations for payment gateways including Stripe, Square, and PayPal.
These gateways are the best supported for migration because we have our own integrations for Stripe, Square, and PayPal Payment Gateway, which makes the migration process straightforward and reliable.
Is there anything special to check for PayPal subscriptions?
Yes. For PayPal subscriptions, we need to confirm whether the subscription was originally created at the PayPal level or at the site level. This can affect the migration path and should be reviewed before starting.
